The situation

What has happened

Alan Wheatley's chapel service is at 11 am on Tuesday at Ringwood and the hearse will arrive at the crematorium at about 12:15 pm. Cremator 2 is due for service so Cremator 1 is in use. The mortuary care register shows a pacemaker was removed on 9 September. The family will collect the cremated remains on Thursday. Last week a coffin plate spelling discrepancy was caught at the crematorium, so Amara Osei wants every check done in order and recorded. The environmental licence requires temperature and opacity to be logged during the cremation, and the Environment Protection Authority audit is next month.

Your brief. Complete the documentation and identity checks, receive the coffin, operate Cremator 1 under supervision to the licence conditions, process and store the cremated remains, and record every step in the interment and cremation register so that the remains can be released to the right family on Thursday.

What to look for

Evidence guide

The register entry must show the documentation check, the two-person identity check, the disc number, charge and completion times, and the storage location. The student must refuse to proceed if any document or name does not match. Look for the log completed at the set intervals and a correct description of the alarm response and the one-coffin, one-chamber rule.

The student's evidence summary lists every record they created or changed in the systems named above, their notes and the tasks they ticked. Verify it against the deliverables and your own assessment tool.
